16 Celebrity ‘Collectibles’ People Actually Bought On eBay. Humans Are Frickin’ Weird

Posted on

What do Justin Bieber’s hair, Captain Kirk’s kidney stone, and a famous author’s toilet all have in common? Inexplicably enough, they’ve all been auctioned off on eBay for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This proves that some people will do anything to get closer to their favorite celebrities, and also that some people have way too much money on their hands.

1. Scarlett Johansson’s Tissue

While most of us would pay someone to throw away gross tissues that we find, someone actually paid $5,300 for one that Scarlett Johansson blew her perfect little nose into on The Tonight Show. She put the snot-laden tissue in a bag, signed it and, making the best out of a drippy situation, donated the money to USA Harvest, the charity of her choice.

2. Pharrell Williams’ Hat

You know what would make me “Happy?” Having $44,100 to spend on a hat at an auction. The 40-year-old singer auctioned the Buffalo hat that he wore to the Grammys on eBay as a fundraiser for his charity for at-risk teens, One Hand to Another, so it’s actually a pretty cool story. The plot twist, though? The fast-food chain Arby’s was the buyer. Seems they could have used that money to get a less-creepy guy to voiceover their commercials.

3. William Shatner’s Kidney Stone

Someone paid $25,000 for this very personal item from Captain Kirk, who passed the stone after he collapsed while filming an episode of Boston Legal. The stone was returned to Mr. Shatner, who donated the $25,000 it garnered from the auction. Kidney stones? Bad. Charity? Good. Someone buying a kidney stone? Pretty darn creepy.
